Description:
Novilhieros" in Moita, Portugal This sequence of photographs is an encapsulation illustrating every day life experienced as a ritual. The long-lasting tradition of bull-fighting is still considered as an exceptional spectacle and excites many impetuus youths that from an early stage (5 to 15) develop their skills with discipline, dreaming to become great "torreros", bullfighters. Till then, they are called "novilhieros" and they confront only young bulls. In a festival held in Moita (a village 50 km from Lisbon, Portugal), on the 1st November 1999, young "novilhieros" from all over the country, representing different "schools", took their chances to be nominated "torreros". publish in 'E' magazine of SUNDAY ELEFTEROTYPIA |
